How it works
- Pick the tab for your file, and drop it in. It is read straight into this browser tab — never sent to a server.
- Name a size, not a setting. Enter a limit (or tap Email / Discord / WhatsApp) and the tool solves for what will land under it — you see the estimate before you start. Or switch to quality mode and steer it yourself.
- Download. Everything is encoded on your own device, then saved locally.
Is it really private?
Yes — structurally, not as a promise. There is no upload endpoint: the file is processed by code running on your machine, in this tab. You can pull your network connection out mid-compression and it will still finish. Nothing is stored and there is no account.
What it can shrink
Each format has its own engine, and its own page explaining exactly what it does to your file:

Images are re-encoded by the browser itself, so they need no engine download at all — and EXIF and GPS data are stripped along the way. PowerPoint, Word and Excel files have only their pictures recompressed: the text and layout come out byte-identical and the file still opens in Office. A GIF gets a fresh palette and can also be saved as an MP4, usually a fraction of the size. Video, GIF and audio share one engine (FFmpeg, ~30 MB of WebAssembly), so it downloads once per visit — not once per format.
